Welcome to the 2011-12 PS/IS 187 Parent Teacher Association website!

We are looking forward to a fantastic 2011-2012 school year.

Our school is the center of our community in Washington Heights where we together raise our children.

We are dedicated to working together to support the academics and school activities that make PS-IS 187 a special place.

This school year marks the establishment of the PTA. The “T” stands for Teachers! Last June, the Parent Association voted to expand membership to include all PS-IS 187 teachers, in addition to parents and guardians.

By putting the “T” in the middle, we now have a place where we can foster a stronger partnership between the parents, teachers, administration and our students. We can build on the good communication and support that has shaped PS-IS 187 over the years.

With a growing list of school activities, there are both old and new traditions at PS-IS 187 ranging from talent shows, movie nights, international dinners, science fairs, KidFit and fundraising sales. The school is a busy active place with many creative, hard working, dedicated parents, teachers and students.

Please join the PTA this year. All parents and teachers are encouraged to join and get involved. We want parents of students in all grades, all classes and from all backgrounds to work together.

Join a committee. Organize an activity. Become a class representative. Meet other parents and share experiences and learn from each other.
