as Fundraising Partners

The PTA has always been KEY for the school

• We will be needed now more than ever
• Past efforts were “small ticket items” such as the wish list
• Now, we are needed to supplement “big ticket issues” to ensure the success of PS/IS 187

3 years ago Friends of 187 was formed as additional fundraising arm

• Targets larger donors, community &, opportunities outside of Chancellor’s Regulations
• Able to fund programmatic needs, including teachers

How can we better raise & distribute funds for the school this year?

PTA, Friends and SLT met with teachers and administration to identify major areas of need

• Fundraising will focus on meeting those needs
• This budget crisis is an opportunity to combine our resources to offer significant help to the school

Based on the Comprehensive Education Plan, we have been asked to focus supporting the following priorities:

• Differentiated Instruction
• Common Planning Period
• Arts Enrichment/Focus on school day

Working Together

The PTA and Friends with guidance from SLT will provide funding/support within three categories of needs in line with school priorities;

• School-wide programmatic needs
  i.e. f-status teachers, PD, planning time, systemic programs, etc…
• Grade-level and teacher defined needs
  i.e. curriculum based trips and projects, direct classroom support, etc…
• Materials and supply needs
  i.e. items that will improve classroom learning
