Fundraising
Money raised by the PA through fundraising and grant-writing brings activities and events to our school such as the Movement Program, New Victory Theatre Membership and Tickets, Opera Program, Power Hour, Extended Day Program, Science Fair, Teacher Appreciation Day, graduation, second grade video project, High School Night, senior t-shirts, class trips, technology repairs, and materials for libraries, ESL classes and art. A “Wish List,” based on a survey of our teachers, is presented to the Parents’ Association each year. Generous PA donations to the list jump start programs and bring valuable equipment into the classrooms. Below are some of the many ways parents can get involved in raising money for our school enrichment programs.

Fundraising Committee
Parent participation is always welcome in the PA’s Fundraising Committee. The Fundraising Committee organizes events to raise money for activities, events, and materials that the school cannot provide as well as for PA events.
Grant Writing Committee
We always welcome new members to the PA’s Grant Writing Committee. Last year, parents wrote and received grants for school programs and activities totaling $35,000.
School Sales
The Parents’ Association’s annual fundraisers are various Bake Sales, the Candy and Gift Wrap Sale, School Photographs, and Cookie Dough Sale.
schoolpop.com
In addition, by making online purchases through www.schoolpop.com, P.S./I.S. 187 will receive up to 18% of your purchase.
Box Tops for Education
The PA also participates in the “Box Tops for Education” program. The “Box Tops” coupons are worth 10¢ each to the school and can be sent in to the PA via the PA’s mailbox in the Main Office or through the drop box at Frank's Market in the neighborhood.
