UFT’s Dial-A-Teacher Program

The Dial-A-Teacher program is a homework helping service. It offers parents and students free help over the telephone if they run into a problem while doing daily homework assignments. Currently, the staff of 45 highly-skilled teachers handle over 2,000 calls a week with approximately 10% of those calls coming from parents. The program offers help in 8 different languages including Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian, Hebrew and French.

The Dial-A-Teacher program is open Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The service is free, the only cost is that of a local telephone call from anywhere within the five boroughs. The number is 212.777.3380.

The UFT’s Dial-a-Teacher program offers workshops for parents on a variety of topics. Most workshops can be offered in your school, provided the PTA president requests them by calling 212.598.9205.

Writopia Lab

is extending their summer program into the school year and will run weekly workshops for young teen writers between the ages of 10 and 19. Workshops will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays. For additional information and a schedule of workshops, visit www.WritopiaLab.org
